Your link to New York City's Art Scene.

My name is Libby Welke and I am a Senior, Marketing Major at Wake Forest University. I recently traveled to New York City with my Management of the Visual Arts class, and had the opportunity to learn from professional art advisors about the structure and function of the art market. Over our 4-day stay, we visited and networked with artists, dealers, art critics, auction specialists, curators and world-renowned private collectors. Each offered unique insights to the challenges and opportunities of their individual roles and the interplay between the diverse constituents in the art world.

If I learned anything, it's that commercial success in this world depends on relationship building. Who exhibits, reviews or purchases a piece of art is just as likely to influence the value as who created it. This is a world of connections.

I created ArtLink as a metaphor for these connections.

Here you'll learn how the artists are connected to the influencers... whether they're critics, collectors, galleries or museums. Since the metaphor is one of connections, I've embedded hyper "links" to the online identity of each player. The idea is for the site itself to become a representation of the NYC art world and show how the dynamics of expression, opinion, influence and demand connect to define the market.
